Movable Obstructions are artificial objects that can be moved with reasonable effort and without damaging the obstruction or the course.
You can remove moveable instructions anywhere on or off the course, but be aware of the following:
- If your ball moves as a consequence it must be replaced on its original spot and there is no penalty
- Even if they are movable, you may not move: boundary objects (e.g. out of bounds posts), integral objects, or tee markers when you are playing from the Teeing Area
- You may not remove a movable obstruction which may affect a ball in motion
- You can’t move them to a position which might influence a stroke (e.g. to build a stance or deflect a ball in motion
If your ball comes to rest on a movable obstruction so that the ball is not touching the course you may take free relief and drop the ball back into play. Your Reference Point will be the estimated point right under where the ball was at rest and your Relief Area is within 1 club length of this point, not nearer the hole, and in the same Area of the Course as the Reference Point
NB Discarded partially eaten fruit (e.g. an apple core or banana skin) are loose impediments.
