A bit of revision – what are the 4 defined areas of the course? You need to know them because different rules apply in different areas.
If part of your ball is in both the general area and one of these specific areas, it is treated as being in the specific area of the course.
If part of your ball is in two specific areas, it is treated as lying in the specific area which comes first in this order:
- Penalty Area
- Bunker
- Putting Green
The Teeing Area is only the tee from which you are playing the hole – other tees on the same hole and all tees on different holes are part of general area.
A green which is not the green on the hole you are playing is part of the General Area and is treated as a Wrong Green (effectively a No Play Zone)
The General Area includes both the fairway and the rough and any where else you may find yourself which isn’t in one of the defined areas or Out of Bounds
